Another Oregon state park, another fabulous beach, and another terrific weekend on the coast.
After spending a few days in Portland we headed back to the coast for three days at Cape Lookout State Park. Located only an hour and half from Portland, and with sites minutes from the beach, this campground is a popular weekend destination. Luckily our last weekend experience at Fort Stevens state park promoted us to plan ahead for the following weekend. Good thing because when I made the reservation there were only two RV sites left. We noticed on Friday night that they let a bunch of RVs into the tent area, so we probably would have gotten in without a reservation, but we wouldn’t have gotten a full hookup site.
Have I mentioned yet what a deal Oregon state parks are? Our full hookup site here is only $24, and on October 1st that price goes down to $22. We’ve paid practically this much for dry camping in some of the national parks, and in New York the state parks are all over $30/night…and there’s no ocean. Yay Oregon! We plan to visit at least six more state parks on the Oregon coast, and the low cost, plus the fact that they all offer at a minimum an electric and water hookup, makes this goal so much easier.
Okay, enough yakking…here’s some pictures from the weekend.
Sorry for the lack of words today, but we’ve got to be out of here at 1:00 and I plan to give Sterling (after 3.5 months I think we decided on a name for the airstream. What do you think?) a bath before we go, so no time to waste!
