After many months of planning and anticipation the gathering/caravan named Aluminogan has begun. On Friday afternoon the Airstreams started rolling in. First up was the crew from Mali Mish — Dan, Marlene, Ava, Mila & Luka.
Behind Mali Mish were the Works Family of 1337 Stream — Josh, Jessa & Jack.
A few hours later John & Laura of The Democratic Travelers rolled in with their massive 34′ footer, followed behind by Dave, Ann & Wynne of Advodna.
The last arrival on Friday was Kevin & Laura of the Riveted Blog.
Here we all are on Friday evening. Despite the worry about parking and whether there would be enough room for all the trailers, as you can see we fit in perfectly. From left to right: Us, Mali Mish, 1337 Stream, Riveted, The Democratic Travelers, Advodna, Aluminarium.
The final arrival for this leg of the journey (two more Airstreams will be meeting us in Canada) were Deke & Tiffani of Weaselmouth who pulled in on Saturday afternoon. I didn’t get a photo of them driving in, but here’s their very sweet dog Lucy.
We spent most of the day Saturday hanging out in front of various trailers and getting to know each other.
In the evening we gathered for a fabulous taco feast that turned into a kind of pork-mania. We chowed on three kinds of pulled pork that had been smoking for hours, filling the entire area with an aroma that left even the committed “plant-based” eaters drooling. We also had a corn & bean salsa, guacamole, Dave’s special sauce, grilled zucchini, black beans, fruit salad, loads of various other fixins’ and of course, a huge bowl of bacon! My contribution was two pies — Peach and Chocolate. It was an amazing communal meal that left us all stuffed and dreaming of pork all night long.
Our last night here in Washington ended with a spectacular sky that provided the perfect backdrop for a group photo shot. First up were the lady’s of Airstream, followed by the men of Airstream, then the kid’s of Airstream and finally a shot of everyone. John of the Democratic Travelers took all the photos and I’ll be sure to share them at some point. For now here is the manly photo that I snapped with my phone. As you can see they’re a very serious bunch.
Today we all head out for our first stop Canada stop in Kelowna where we are staying at a private park on a lake and will be indulging in a day of wine tasting. Tim & I are going unconnected for this trip so you won’t see any updates from us until we are back in the states next Sunday. Laura from Riveted will be posting daily blog updates though so be sure to head over and check out what we’re up to.
