We’re still here in our super boondocking spot near/not so near Durango. Not much to report this week. No hikes, bike rides, or grand adventures. Just us hanging out, working, and watching the World Cup in Spanish (Telemundo is our only option). Except… wait…one exciting thing did happen. We had visitors!
Tiffani, Deke & Lucy of the blog Weaselmouth stopped by for a short visit on their way from Washington to North Carolina. We first met this fun trio during last summer’s Airstream Caravan to Canada. It was really great to see them again. Tiffani and Deke are like us in that they live full-time in their Airstream, but unlike us they stay put in one place most of the time. For the past few years they have been in the Seattle area, and now they’re moving to North Carolina where Deke just got a new job. I think their story serves as a great reminder of just how many options there are for this non- traditional RV lifestyle.
As usual, all of our social activities during their visit revolved around food. The first night we had a yummy pot luck Mexican meal topped off by a berry crostada with vanilla gelato.
The next evening we headed over to Ska Brewing to check out their Thursday night live music BBQ. Sorry for the blurry indoor iphone photo, but it was the only one I got of the everyone together.
Ska Brewing has a large back yard perfect for outdoor gatherings. We enjoyed the BBQ, beer, and people watching, but all agreed that the band was pretty bad. The lead singer had this screechy voice that made me want to cover my ears. Terrible! In addition to their normal Thursday night activities, the brewery was also celebrating Clean Commute Week. We quickly joined in the celebration and got our commemorative pint glass, chocolate bar, and free beer!
We stuck around only long enough to eat and drink, then headed downtown so the Tiffani and Deke could see what Durango is all about. From the comments they made as we walked up and down main street, it was obvious that they like this town as much as we do. Yesterday morning they moved on, continuing their journey eastward, but not before we made some tentative plans to visit them in NC next spring. Happy travels Tiffani and Deke and thanks for visiting!
