Today was a driving day. Nothing too long, about four and a half hours, plus a short stop at a nice town park for lunch. If I could describe the drive across south western Minnesota with one word it would be Flat. You could see for miles in all directions. We saw lots of corn fields…
and soybean fields…
We passed a large wind farm on the very western edge of Minnesota.
Then we arrived in South Dakota.
We’re parked for the night at a city park in the town of Arlington, SD about 40 miles across the MN border. The park has 5 gravel pads with power pedestals and picnic tables. There’s no charge unless you use the power, then its 5 bucks. Currently we’re not plugged in, and with temps only in the high 80s and a nice breeze we don’t really need AC, so probably won’t use the power.
It’s not a bad spot for just one night. So far the only annoyance is the noise from all the truck traffic passing by. It’s mostly trucks hauling corn and soybeans so maybe it will quiet down this evening. Tomorrow we’ll do more driving. A bit shorter this time. Only about 3 hours over to the Missouri river where we have another free spot lined up for the night.
